Creating a Google Account with a Google Email
To access many of Google’s powerful tools, like Google Analytics, you need a Google Account. But here’s something many people don’t realize: you don’t need a Gmail address to create one. You can use any email address, even if it’s not from Google, to set up your account. This gives you access to a wide range of Google services and features without needing to switch your email provider.
To get started, visit https://accounts.google.com. Once you’re there, you’ll see a page that looks like this—this is where you’ll start setting up your Google Account. Don’t worry, the process is simple and only takes a few minutes.
Type in the email address you want to use for your new Google Account. This can be any email address, not just a Gmail address. Then, from the dropdown menu, choose "For my personal use" to continue the setup tailored for individual users.
In the next step, enter your first and last name, then click “Next” to continue setting up your account.
Now, fill in your date of birth and gender. This information helps personalize your Google experience. Once done, click Next to move forward.
At this stage, Google may suggest a few Gmail addresses for you. Instead of selecting one of those, click on "Use your existing email" to continue using the non-Google email you entered earlier.
Add your email and move to the next step.
Google will send a confirmation code to the email address you provided. Check your inbox, enter the code, and click Verify to confirm that you own the email.
Set your password and move forward.
Next, Google will ask for your mobile number. This is to send you a verification code via text message. Enter your number, then check your phone and type in the code to verify your identity.
Once you receive the code by text, enter it to verify your phone number. Just a heads-up—this code is time-sensitive, so make sure to use it before it expires.
Confirm your information and move to the nest step.
Now it’s time to review Google’s Terms and Conditions. Feel free to read through them—but let’s be honest, if you want a Google Account, agreeing is your only real option. Once you’re ready, click I agree to complete the setup.
And, you are in.
